Exporting and Investment

Brazil’s economic success and commitments provide expanded opportunities for Ohio businesses. Some 20 million people have recently been added to its middle class out of a total population of nearly 200 million. Brazil has high employment, low inflation and steady economic growth. Brazil has just obtained "investment grade" status, based on standards set by Standard & Poor’s and Fitch Ratings.

The government’s PAC program is working to expand its ports, with close to US $300 billion committed. Some 90% of Brazil's imports and exports come by sea. Brazil's focus on its infrastructure has relevance for Ohio manufacturers exporting products. In 2007, these exports totaled over $1.3 billion, a 158% increase over
2006.

ACWA's trade program is in four parts:

  1. A review of practical considerations in deciding to explore product export or expand present exports to Brazil, including ways to access related U.S. Commercial Services programs.
  2. How to access the services of the U.S. Export Assistance Center - U.S. Department of Commerce to support your export goals.
  3. A review of trade mission goals, what participation can provide, and guidelines for choosing those appropriate to your goals.
  4. ACWA's special guest, Minister Rubens Gama, Minister-Counselor for Commercial Affairs and Technology, Brazilian Embassy, Washington, D.C., will speak about investment in Brazil and bilateral trade between Ohio and Brazil. During this session, Minister Gama will present the factors that make Brazil a particularly attractive destination for foreign investment. He will give an overview of the current economic climate that will help you to understand why more and more U.S. companies are looking to the Brazilian market to expand.

Who Should Attend: Any manufacturer or service provider that would like an overview of U.S. Commercial Services that support export and/or want updating on investment opportunities.
