Isabelle Marques-Gross

Isabelle Marques-Gross is Deputy Consul General of the Consulate General of France in Chicago, which covers 13 Midwestern states from Ohio to the Great Plains.

She joined the French diplomatic service in 1992 after having spent a number of years abroad. Born in Bône, Algeria, in 1966, to French parents of Spanish and Greek descent, she grew up living in different parts of the world, including Canada, India, Argentina, Australia, Peru, Belgium and Madagascar.

Since joining the Foreign Ministry, Ms. Marques-Gross has worked on Southern African issues at the Bureau of African Affairs in Paris (1992-1994), on Conventional weapons at the Bureau of Disarmament in Paris (2001-2005) and on political issues and bilateral relations, serving at the French Embassies in Canberra, Australia (1994-1997), and Buenos Aires, Argentina (1997-2001).

She studied political science, international law and administrative law at the Université libre de Bruxelles (ULB) in Belgium and holds a Master's in French public administration.

She moved to Chicago in July 2005 with her husband and her two children, Charlotte (6 yo) and Quentin (2 yo).
